2-1/8" - 8 Thread Repair Kit

The 2-1/8" - 8 UNC thread repair kit allows for the removal and repair of damaged threads in a tapped hole. They can be replaced by chasing the threads using a thread chaser (a device designed to clean and restore factory threads) or installing an insert that contains new threads of the same size.

  Quickly and easily repair stripped or damaged threads, or create stronger original threads in die castings or plastics with our Helical Screw Thread Inserts. Coil tension securely holds the insert in place without undue tension on the surrounding material. The inserts are vibration and impact resistant. Made from corrosion resistant stainless steel, they offer a wide temperature tolerance.

  Helical Inserts are often known by the brand names Helicoil or Recoil Screw Thread Inserts. Our Precision Thread Helical Inserts are interchangeable with other brands of inserts and tooling.

  ⦿ HSS Plug Tap

  

  Screw Thread Insert (STI) Taps are used specifically to create threads for Helical Thread Inserts. STI Taps are oversized so the thread produced will accept a Helical Wire Insert of the same nominal size and pitch - meaning the hole created by the Tap goes back to the original dimension allowing the original fastener to be used.

  The "Plug" style Tap is ideal for starting or tapping a through hole. The Tap can be used and the Helical Insert can be installed in most materials including aluminum, magnesium, cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, and plastic.
